Rocha da Relva

Following are some photos of a trail down to a village called Rocha da Relva. This is a walk that Futurismo offers as a half day tour. Rocha da Relva is a very small village that is isolated from the main road and power grid. Access to the village is by a small paved trail winding down the cliff. The locals use donkeys to transport heavy loads up and down the trail and if you are lucky you will be able to see this for yourself during the walk. You will also be able to see the beautiful views on the way down, interesting rock formations along the cliff faces and traditional stone houses surrounded by small charming gardens and vineyards.

Walking trails in São Miguel, Azores

There are plenty of things to see and do in the Azores and one of the best ways to explore the islands is on foot. There are many trails to suit people of all levels of experience and fitness. Futurismo offers a variety of guided walking tours so that you can get the most out of your walk with a knowledgeable guide and with included transport for those walks that are off the main road and require a pick-up at a different end point. Futurismo's walking tours are available year-round and we regularly assess new trails to add to our program. Below are some photos of Futurismo's guides exploring a trail that may become part of our regular tours.

A bit of information...

Today we had to cancel our whale watching tour because of bad sea conditions and we will try again tomorrow. But there is always something going on at Futurismo, and right now we have a walking tour in beautiful Sete Cidades and in the marina there was a special briefing about Futurismo and all our activities, but also about our research, the animalsphoto sharing online (Facebook and Youtube) and much more.
